Imagine moving a storeful of jars, cans, boxes, cabinets, shelves, wine, and of course, Jack’s food. As in Jack, the puppie of longtime Rogue Valley residents, David Jesser and Chef Constance Jesser. He came along, too. In the span of 60 short days, they reimagined their much-loved gourmet foodshop, Jacksonville Mercantile (now closed), into a new endeavor called The Culinarium, in Ashland, Oregon.
According to Urban Dictionary, Culinarium means… “a cafeteria containing only the finest of foods”. This cafeteria, though, is a full-on buffet of unique artisanal food products from around the world, including a selection from Oregon. Foodstuffs from Rogue Creamery, Dagoba Chocolate, Jacobsen Salt Co., local wines and others can also be found throughout the shop.
The biggest change in the new store is the addition of curated and personally-tested kitchenware by Chef Jesser, such as the amazingly affordable, new-on-the-market Black Cube, and a full line-up of Shun Cutlery.
