My greatest obstacle to writing this story was my inability to keep enough JEM in the cupboard; it’s that incredibly, decadently and elegantly delicious. When you slowly loosen the lid off your first jar of JEM Cinnamon Red Maca Almond Butter, be sure to have your teaspoon pre-positioned and poised for scooping so as not to unnecessarily waste any time in experiencing that initial “OMG!” moment. We attempted to be a bit more disciplined with our second jar of JEM, but not any less decadently with how we utilized it. My housemate and co-conspirator melted a couple tablespoons of Cinnamon Red Maca Almond Butter with a cup of Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate chips, drizzled it over scoops of Hagen Daz vanilla ice cream, creating in seconds a simple, yet sinfully delicious dessert. This second jar of JEM barely lasted the week as my mate and I frequently snuck teaspoons of it in feigned attempts at quenching our insatiable desire for this newly found treat.

JEM’s nut butters are more than just a treat; they’re actually good for you too. The almonds, which you know from my story, Almond Flour: Ancient Food for a Modern Day Diet, are ground slowly to begin forming this nut butter. We found it very easy to blend this decadent super food into our everyday diet. Whether adding a scoop into your morning protein shake or enjoying apple slices dipped in JEM for a healthy and sweet treat, you’ll find the Cinnamon Red Maca Almond Butter to be quite versatile. We discovered that by adding three tablespoons to our favorite Oatmeal Raisin Cookies recipe, reducing the butter by the same amount and decreasing the sugar by as much as twenty-five percent, we created a healthier and tastier cookie. Needless to say, the first batch was quickly devoured.
