With the coronavirus impacting how just about every sector of society does business, Oregon wineries are responding by going live. Thanks to livestreams and home deliveries, you can experience tastings, educational series, and cooking demos from the comfort of your living room or patio.

Wine lovers may have limited opportunities for winery visits, so wineries and vineyards are bringing you close…..virtually. Take advantage of armchair travel with a sampling of these virtual winery happenings.

Virtual Wine Tastings and Classes

Troon Vineyard

Troon Vineyard, a biodynamic winery in Oregon’s Applegate Valley, has hosted reviews of their wine varieties, taken wine lovers on live tours of their vineyards and winery operations. Get a 360 view by pulling up a seat for their upcoming virtual First Friday Farm Tour.

Sokol Blosser

Sokol Blosser, Oregon, is offering curbside pickup and delivery, so that virtual visitors can enjoy their wines alongside the hosts of their Instagram Live Happy Hours every Tuesday from 4-5pm. Ask about Sokol Blosser’s Tasting Kits, which are 5-wine flights, also available for curbside pickup or delivery. The price is nice, at only $5 club if you’re a wine club member, or $20 if you’re not.

Cooper Ridge Vineyard (last

Cooper Ridge Vineyard in Oregon’s Umpqua Valley near Roseburg, has also been offering virtual happy hours on Facebook on Friday nights. Join them on Facebook Live  and taste along with the wines they are discussing, most recently the 2018 Ridgeview Cuvée.

Awen Winecraft

Every Wednesday, join Awen Winecraft for “Wine’s World Party Time” on Zoom. This “Wine Up, Pinkies Down” event is from 6:30 to 7:30pm is a lighthearted, interactive event where hosts and winemakers Sean and Tom share news from Awen’s Rogue River vineyard, play a few rounds of wine trivia, and eat some local tidbits.

Bella Vida Vineyard

Join Bella Vida on Instagram TV for “Well Fed Wednesday,” where farmer, owner, and chef Steven Whiteside shares cooking demos. He also walks viewers through vineyard processes like grafting. Recently on Well Fed Wednesdays, chef Steven shared recipes for his famous French omelets and pinot noir brownies.

Some wineries, such as Cooper Ridge Vineyard and Bella Vida Vineyard, have reopened for in-person visitors. Check with your favorite wineries about their COVID visitor policies before going since some are holding tastings by reservation only.
