Long, rough-hewn benches and tables line the room at Sam Bond’s Garage, where a beer in a mason jar is never far from your fingertips. Featuring Irish jam sessions Sundays, Monday night BINGO, and bluegrass jam sessions on Tuesdays, Sam Bond’s (which opens at 4pm) is the place for both happy hour and late nights. The toughest decision to make at New Day Bakery is what to eat. The expansive menu spans four giant blackboards, and covers all breakfast and lunch bases. The best part? Well, the two best parts? Tacovore seems to have a line stretching out the door no matter what time of day or day of the week. But enjoy the wait with a delicious margarita from the bar. Pop into the the light and bright Laughing Planet Cafe if you want to feel healthy with a quick fresh juice or smoothie. Fill up on a burrito to go, or a nourishing bowl with Thai, Korean or Indian flavors. Some dishes rotate , including the Moroccan Bowl (top picture) which makes an appearance on the menu 3-4 times a year. Many items are either vegan, paleo-friendly or gluten-free or can be made so. Mama Mayra’s opened first as a food cart in 2015, then quickly became so popular it moved into a brick-and-mortar location on Sixth Avenue. Now, enjoy its success in an even larger space right next to Laughing Planet.
