Whether you consider it a strike against processed fatty food or not, the fact that the former 7-11 on the corner of Stone Way and 47th has been painted new colors and is now going to be home to a one-two punch of locavore goodness is something to celebrate. Bill the Butcher and ‘Zaw are taking over this space and bringing their delish meats and pies to the Wallingford neighborhood!
One side of this former Slurpee, chip, and snack cake-packed haven is already home to ‘Zaw, Seattle’s artistan bake-at-home pizza joint that specializes in using seasonal, organic, and local meats and produce on their to-go pies. The smiling counter girls at the newly-opened space said they’re thrilled to be part of the neighborhood, and can’t wait until more people know they’re ready for business. (We recommend the Hunter Gatherer if you decide to stop by. The combo of italian sausage, braised mushrooms, crumbled chevre, and wild arugla is insanely good!)
The other side is still in progress, but will eventually be home to popular meat-smith Bill the Butcher, whose butcher shops have been hawking organic, grass fed, and natural meats to delighted city dwellers since 2009, and who has been cropping up in almost every neighborhood with frequency to welcome applause. No word on an exact opening date for Bill, but the “coming soon” sign in the window and lots of construction progress happening within seems to indicate he’ll be up and running before Fall is over—and TLD can’t wait!
