Weekend Assembly is a five piece, cross-genre, cross-generational musical project that blends roots rock with blues, country, folk and indie music. After performing around the Portland area for the last five years, they’ve generated a vast stylistic repertoire of songs that includes both original and cover material. Influences run deep in the highly energetic sound they’ve created, which draws heavily on the improvisational and, at times chaotic formats of counter-cultural giants like Phish and the Grateful Dead. Weekend Assembly’s original songs border on folk in lyrical style and structure, though when (frequently) accompanied by long, sinuous instrumental passages, they shed into a far less restricted skin, more closely akin to the psychedelic.
They’ve performed on the waterfront stages of Portland’s Rose Festival and The Bite of Oregon and have been seen at breweries, wineries, sports events, local venues, festivals, and musical gatherings across the Pacific NW.
