Cider 101- January 23rd Cider Riot’s Abram Goldman-Armstrong, a BJCP National judge, and editor of the Northwest Brewing News, presents an overview of cider from Roman times through today, including introductions to English, French, Spanish, and New World Ciders, including sensory analysis and tasting training.
Cider 201: Spanish Ciders- Feb, 20th, Chris Barnes of Point Blank Distribution, and Cider Riot’s Morgan Miller, one of America’s first cider bloggers, present on Spanish Ciders including Asturian and Basque examples.
Cider 201: English Ciders- March 20th, Abram Goldman-Armstrong and a guest lecturer TBC provide an overview of the tradtional ciders of the English West Country, including an in depth look at production methods and samples of a variety of the finest ciders of Somerset and Hereford.
Cider 201: French Ciders-April 17th Cider Riot’s cidermaker Angie Watkins, Sommelier, who will be travelling to cideries of Normandy and Brittany with the Northwest Cider Association and a guest lecturer TBC present an introduction to the ciders of Norman and Breton ciders, including an explanation of the keeving method of cider production.
Each class includes tastings of classic examples of world class ciders. Classes run 6.30-9pm, and cost $30 each, or $100 for all four.
